Regenerative EcoSocial Design for people with disabilities
Ecology and human systems design supporting human rights work with people with disabilities in Zipolite, MX
In 1994, we founded a transformative project at Pina Palmera in Zipolite, Mexico a center for people with disabilities. The dead garden became a wheelchair accessible permaculture project and hot composting system. We added composting toilets, micro ecological enterprises and consensus decision-making skills for the whole community to create a long-lasting, thriving program, coordinated since 1995 by Adalberto Ramirez. Despite being destroyed by hurricanes and floods in 1997 and again in 2022, the program has been selected by a Mexican foundation to be made available to rural, indigenous communities throughout Mexico.
